Founded in 1899 as a railway depot, Nairobi has grown into one of Africa's leading cities, known for its modern skyline, diverse population, and vibrant business sector.

A unique feature of Nairobi is its proximity to nature: Nairobi National Park lies just outside the city center and is home to lions, giraffes, rhinos, and other wildlife. The city is also an important regional center for international organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.

Nairobi is often called the "Green City in the Sun" because of its pleasant climate, numerous parks, and tree-lined areas, although it also faces challenges such as traffic congestion and rapid urbanization.

Amboseli is particularly famous for elephant conservation and photography, offering some of the best opportunities in Africa to observe and photograph elephants against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.
